Today we’re taking kitchen essentials!
And yes, decor is considered an essential to me, how else am I gonna be inspired to cook?! Plus sometimes decor can be utilitarian, so its fine. Let’s dive in.

Tip #1: The power of a cute lamp
Probably the singular most important design feature in any room is lighting, and dang it who doesn’t love a cute little lamp? The kitchen is a perfect opportunity to place a tiny and adorable lamp like this one since the cabinets naturally create a nook.
Bonus tip: an all glass lamp is even better (especially if near a stove or food prep area) because it can be wiped clean
Tip #2: A little art to hide the ugly
So technically this is functional decor because it’s hiding an outlet right? The depth of this frame makes it perfect for this with plenty of room to plug cords in. Bonus points if it’s paired with the light.
Tip #3: Double wide butter dish
Now this isn’t something I thought about until it was too late and I had already purchased a very cute but not very functional, skinny Anthropologie butter dish. I thrifted mine but this one is similar and they’re perfect for those big blocks of grass fed butter!
Bonus tip: I wouldn’t recommend a glass butter dish as they get really dirty really fast. Think about it.
Tip #4: Get a 1 liter oil cruet
This way when you buy a big jug of olive oil – no more holding onto the container = more pantry space! Just dump it in you cute gigantic oil crock and recycle away.

Tip #5: Multi use appliances
I’m a big fan of these types of things due to my huge lack of counter space in my tiny 1920’s kitchen, so I love the idea of only needing ONE of something, no matter how much space you have tbh. This wonder oven has been on my list for some time, just waiting on my current toaster oven to bite the dust. It has the ability to toast, bake, reheat, broil, steam & roast an ENTIRE CHICKEN???
Not to mention it’s so pretty!

Tip #6: get a washable rug!
Just do it! I put it off for so long because I have three crazy dogs but this one really stays put, I’m shocked. And it’s held up great in the washing machine – and trust me I wash it a lot. You do hours of dishes a week, you owe yourself a nice surface to stand on.

Tip #7: Just throw it in the bread box
I immediately knew I made the right decision when I got this, it adds so much storage to my very storage-poor kitchen! I even use it for overflow from our one small pantry cabinet, so lots more than just bread can fit in here. But if you’re using it for exclusively bread, I’d say you could fit about 4 whole loaves in there!

Tip #8: Ditch your teflon
If you haven’t heard by now, teflon is like… really bad for your health. This high quality, medium weight set is an amazing tox free option at a really good price point for value! The best part – IT’S NON-STICK, like actually non stick.

Tip #9: Wooden or stainless steel utensils
If you don’t get the Our Place cookware set above which comes with wooden utensils, you should definitely get some! My personal favorite has been olive wood, it’s less porous and therefor easier to clean

Tip #10: Add some life
Put a little plant in your kitchen! It will make you feel great, I swear. I even have a very low light kitchen, but my spider plant thrives in there. You could grow herbs all year round if you have enough light. Check out this adorable small pot!
And that’s all for now! Happy cooking, enjoy your adorable kitchen 😉
